[05/09/2007]The 5th Nordic Conference on Human-Computer InteractionNordiCHI is:

- The main Nordic forum for human-computer interaction research, with the Conference proceedings published by ACM.

- The meeting place for researchers, designers, practitioners, educators and others from a broad range of traditions and communities.

- Biannual and has previously been held in Stockholm (2000),Aarhus (2002), Tampere (2004) and Oslo (2006).

The theme of NordiCHI 2008 is that of Using Bridges: A key challenge that our everyday culture raises is to find better ways to combine theory and practice.

Important dates:
Submission of workshops, tutorials and panel proposals: 28 March 2008

Submission of full papers and design cases: 11 April 2008

Submission of short papers/posters and interactive demos: 30 May 2008

Deadline for submissions to doctoral consortium: 11 July 2008

NordiCHI 2008 will take place in Lund, Sweden, 20-22 October, 2008

[12/06/2007]Public Consultation to prepare for the European e-Inclusion StrategyBe part of it! The European Commission launches an on-line public consultation to gather opinions from the wider public (Europe’s citizens, civil society organisations, business entities, public authorities) on the following areas of e-Inclusion (digital inclusion):
o e-Accessibility
o Digital literacy and competences
o Inclusive e-Government
o Information & communication technologies for cultural diversity
o Information & communication technologies for active ageing at work
o The role of stakeholders in reaching e-Inclusion goals

As stated in the Communication on "i2010 – A European Information Society for Growth and Employment", the Commission intends to launch a European Initiative on e-Inclusion in 2008.

In order to prepare for the initiative the Commission intends to propose a Communication on a comprehensive approach to e-Inclusion by the end of 2007 with the aim to support the achievement of the policy objectives of the Riga Ministerial Declaration (June 2006).

[04/06/2007]Help us improve HERMES: Fill in the evaluation questionnaire available until 15 JulyFour years after its official launch in 2003 HERMES, the virtual networking platform of EDeAN is about to undergo major modifications and improvements in the context of the EC-funded Coordination Action “Design for All for eInclusion (DfA@eInclusion, http://www.dfaei.org) project.

One of the main goals of this project is the maintenance and improvement of the EDeAN networking platform. Specifically, to improve and when necessary re-design and modify specific features and functionalities of HERMES, develop new services and improve the overall user interface. The success of this process will depend to a very large extend on feedback received from HERMES’ users.

We therefore invite you to fill in an evaluation questionnaire which is available through the All Members SIG and if you think necessary, email us with additional comments.
